Mobile Air Conditioning Units
Monobloc (self contained system for small areas)
Monoblocs are the most popular type of mobile air conditioner for small offices and home use. They work with an exhaust hose that dissipates the heat in a similar manner to a tumble dryer.
Monoblocs conveniently wheel around from room to room where you need cooling the most, and need to be situated near to a window that preferably opens at around hip height.
Twin hose monoblocs are becoming popular. These draw condenser air in from the outside through one hose and then exhaust the rejected heat through the other. The consequence of this is that a vacuum is not drawn on the room, and this allows the air conditioning effect to be more dramatic.
Split system (suitable for larger areas)
Split system mobile air conditioners are more suitable for larger areas as the heat is dissipated not via a large air hose put through an open window, but through an outdoor condenser section. This is connected to the indoor unit by refrigeration pipes that are considerably thinner, so even when the condenser section is hung out of a window the room can be virtually sealed making the unit more effective.
